When first introduced to a new environment, juvenile threadfin rainbowfish have shorter fins and appear silver white. With proper feeding and time, males will develop longer fins and more vibrant colors. For this reason, some recommend keeping a group of six or more threadfin rainbowfish with a mix of males and females. Threadfin rainbowfish may not show their attractive colors if they are frightened or kept with other aggressive species.
