Appearance
The Costae tetra has a sleek silver body with a black line that runs horizontally along its midsection. They have a slender, elongated body with a streamlined shape.
Behavior
Costae tetras are active and schooling fish that form large groups in the wild to protect themselves from predators. In aquariums, they are fast-moving and can add movement to the middle and upper levels of the tank. They can be a little nippy, so it’s best to keep them in groups of at least six fish, with a ratio of two to three females for every male to reduce stress. They should also not be kept with species that have elaborate fins.
